The Seamstress: a novel by Frances de Pontes Peebles (Rhian)
The Almost Archer Sisters by Lisa Gabriele (Kerry)
A Proper Education for Girls (Antoinette)

The "sisters" topic proved fruitful - lots of titles available, including ones that we didn't bring this time, but have read in the past. With a couple of exceptions, everyone was pleased with their choices.
Thanks to Wendy for such great hospitality in the wilds of Fort Langley.
The next meeting is Friday, April 9 at Frances' place. And the topic is - you guessed it - brothers.
See you there.

A Piece of Normal by Sandi Kahn Shelton
Two sisters grow up in an apparently idyllic environment on Long Island Sound. When their rather eccentric parents are both killed in a car accident, the older sister Lily comes back home to care for her 16 year old sister Dana, an arrangement which ends with Dana storming out of the house in a rage 2 years later. Lily stays on, marries, has a child, divorces and works as an advice columnist, but never really moves on with her life and finds herself in a rut. Ten years later, the unpredictable Dana returns and all hell breaks loose.
The author does a good job characterising the 2 sisters - Lily, the organised, careful, somewhat obsessive planner and Dana, the wild, fun loving and often annoying little sister. Secondary characters, such as Lily's clingy, gloomy ex are also well presented. And Shelton is laugh out loud funny much of the time.
Recommended. Would make a great summer read.
