The trouble with entering this info 2 weeks after the event is that I can't remember anything about any of the books except that I think Barb really liked her McCann choice. However, I do remember that it was the usual enjoyable evening with lots of wedding chatter mixed with caring for aging parents commiserations. Martha also contributed a fair bit to the discussion.
So - the next get together is Sunday, Nov. 29 at Kathryn's place and it's the Christmas Party! No book discussion this time, but if you know of a Christmas song, poem, joke, picture book, or ? that you would like to share, that would be fine. Please bring appetizer, salad or dessert. I'll supply the main course.
Oh yeah, and don't forget to post your book summary as a comment to this post. She said hopefully.

The Tuesday Erotica Club by Lisa Beth Kovetz
This is a quick fun read. Four very different women in a Manhattan law firm get together to share the erotic stories they've written. There's paralegal, Aimee, pregnant and deserted by her husband, her friend Brooke, an artist from a wealthy background, Margot, an older lawyer looking for female friendship, and finally, Lux, young, sexy, from the wrong side of the tracks, and definitely the most interesting character in the book. After a rocky start and some backfiring love affairs, the four women learn to appreciate and support each other.
The writing is a bit hit and miss, sometimes witty, sometimes wooden, sometimes cliche , sometimes like Sex and the City.
The title of this novel is deceiving as it is about a quilting club. Who knew Persian pickle was the name of a quilting design! It is a fine depiction of life in small town Kansas during the depression. The story is told by Queenie Bean who is quick to welcome Rita into the club. Rita is a big city girl who doesn't quite fit in but she is determined to solve the mystery of who killed the husband of one of the club's members. Ultimately this is a story of friendship and loyalty among women who will do anything to protect one another. Not riveting but an easy read with a twist at the end that is not totally predictable.
